6262 aluminum alloy is an alloy in the forged aluminum-magnesium-silicon family (6000 or 6xxx series). It is related to the 6162 aluminum alloy (the Alcoa name differs only in the second digit and is a variant of the same alloy), but sees more widespread use. It differs from 6162, and most other aluminum alloys, in that it contains lead in its alloy composition. It is usually formed by extrusion, forging or rolling, but as a wrought alloy, it is not used for casting. It can also be clad, but this is not a common practice for this alloy. It cannot be work hardened, but is usually heat treated to produce temperatures with higher strength but lower ductility.
